Subject: RE: 36%?!?

west central MN

Can you tell me when the guys in your area typically plant Jon? I went through the northern part of Kansas on about April 8th and it was 80 degrees and looked dry. I think I only saw a couple of corn fields planted and I was surprised it was so quiet. In my area in MN if we had an 80 degree day in the spring and the corn wasn't in the ground to take advantage of that everyone would panic.

In our area the corn is going in very slow. It just got dry enough yesterday and most people seem to be waiting because they are predicting snow and cold tonight and tomorrow. 10 years ago everyone would be going like crazy to try to get as much in before the rain starts and now we are waiting because of the cold and weet forecast. We will see if waiting is the right thing to do. I would say there is less than 15% in the ground around me but I think we could have had 1/3 or more planted by tonight if we all wanted to.
