Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska | Todd, I see your forecast doesn't look good. If you get some snow it will likely lay the wheat down. The straw will gooseneck and the heads will come back up but it is a real challenge to harvest. And I don't know what it may do to the heads. Cold enough and it will sterilize them.
I have seen some light snow lodge wheat pretty easily. Fortunately it didn't happen to a whole field. Just in some heavy, low lying areas. Wheat did not do real well either. I think this was in 2006? |
