Subject: Would you V-rip in the spring?

Croswell, Michigan
We were checking out a new to us piece of ground today. The previous owner had been spreading manure just adjacent to our new ground and looks like they made numerous(I mean a lot) trips across ours with the tractor and spreader either to get to where they were spreading or on the way out. I wouldn't fuss too much if they had stayed in the same track each time but the tracks are spread out probably 60' wide by a quarter mile long. It looks pretty well packed where they drove and I would say this is heavier ground. Plan is to plant corn. If I run the v-ripper over this area will I just make a bigger mess? Or should we just live with the compaction this year and rip it in the fall? I have never run the ripper in the spring.
