Subject: RE: Cheap window ~

central - east central Minnesota -

Wheat77 - 4/25/2017 21:10 I would get triple pane. We replaced all of the windows in our older ranch, built in the 60's. What a difference it made. A really good way to go. 3 panes of glass are way better than any fancy gas put in between. Most all windows are now UV glass.

That "fancy gas" is what drives the quality of seal in windows . . . . . You get what you pay for.

The gas used between window panes are what makes a window's efficiency. It also requires a better grade sealing gasket. Again, the price ranges follow good, better and best. The seal is what will go bad and wreck a windows efficiency.

So likely, you'd get a very cheap seal in a window without fancy gas between the panes. Triple pane glass will have gas between the panes also.

That's likely the first or second question that should be asked about windows - what's the warranty of the seal ?
