Subject: RE: Windows in new home

central - east central Minnesota -

LB8310 - 4/25/2017 20:11 Wife and I are going to be building a home this summer that we plan on being there as long as we can, we have most of the necessities and the layout figured out thanks to this site but we still can't decide on windows. We're being conservative but don't want to skimp. What have you had good luck with? Fiberglass, vinal, double Payne, triple, Payne? Looking for something we don't have to replace in 10 years. Thanks in advance!

Some of the most energy efficient windows are triple pane crank out type windows (if you need an operating window). if you have areas you can use fixed place window (no operating open/close), that is more efficient yet. (with argon gass between panes).

Fiberglass is about the best longer lasting material out there. Go to your local lumber yard and check out what they suggest. Summer heat and winter cold all play into the decision making on best window for your area.
