For your gray gps icon the first thing to check is that your steer command box is powered up. Sometimes our plug that supply's the key power to the steer command gets bumped and it won't power up when the display is turned on. Everything will load up and your gps will get a connection but it will stay grey until the steer command is communicating with your 1200.

Just what I have seen running our equipment.

For the row problem, you are right to start with swapping the row units. If it stays with the row also swap the seed tube. We have had a seed tube go bad and report inconsistent seed info.

I personally don't run a implement switch on our planter. I prefer to run it manually in the cab.
