North Central Illinois | I see pretty much the same thing. I really don't want cows on ground that is going to corn unless it is quite dry. Unless it is frozen, or in the fall.
In a grass sod, I really don't worry about it, as the combination of earthworms and root mass seems to remedy the compaction that they cause. Gonna go out in the morning and disk, then moldboard plow some sod so I can plant corn in a couple weeks. Soil is just dry enough to work, and the cattle have been grazing it down the last couple days. | |
