Had a small drilling hammer that was left laying on a plow in about 1980 it fell off and got turned under. Knew approximately the area where it was lost. Kept track of whether it should be up or down by subsequent plowings but figured it was lost forever. 19 years later it turned up in a flexible tine harrow in an adjoining field 800' to the south of where it was lost. Wooden handle was still in place although a little worse for the wear. It was neat to see it eventually turn back up. One other time one of Grandpas crowbars made by local blacksmith out of Model T axle shaft got lost but it was found the next year.
