Subject: RE: Servicing Lobe vacuum pump

Faunsdale, AL
Seems like it was 32 whatever. We hardly ever changed ours, about 1 time a year and used a good grade of tractor hydraulic - transmission oil in it. Than we had some milk pump trouble and it got changed quite a bit there for a while!

I finally taught the milkers to avoid shutting the pump down if they had run milk through it. Much better to flush it out before shutting down. It will lock up tight and have to be soaked loose if it's just shut off hot after milk went through it. Then the oil is contaminated.
