E.Central MN | Here they used to have a mandatory helmet law for motorcycles. But so many groups complained that the state removed it. Guess they figure that if you're in an accident on a motorcycle the odds of surviving are against you anyway versus if you're in a relatively protective environment like a car then you'll likely walk away if you're wearing a seatbelt but could easily be killed if you are ejected. I understand their logic, but I'd much prefer to have the cops working on solving major crimes or helping stranded motorists instead of just wasting time being tax collectors and snooping for dui candidates. I don't think not wearing a seatbelt should be probable cause to stop a vehicle, plenty of other places the cops should be spending their time. | |
