I'm sure you probably have already ( you didn't mention it) but have you played with the cutter bar angle?

it's been a few years since I sold my 7450's so my mind is a little foggy, but I remember being able to buy a different style of blade for situations like that from my dealer. they might have been called "lift knives "?

running the machine at 1/2 rpm's helps also.
