I hope your son remains okay sounds like there was a lot of poor medical advice given. 

Just like the push by so called "experts" that you must only eat a low fat diet that is also filled full of carbs that is currently driving the obesity and diabetes explosion in this country not to mention that those 2 factors drive other longer term diseases as well.
