North Central Iowa | Grain prices are where they are at because the consumer can't afford to pay more. I have always thought that when they talked about its different this time and its a new plateau in grain prices. Who is going to be able to afford to buy a product made out of $7.00 corn for very long. Health care has killed the disposable income from the consumer. What would happen to the price of raw farm commodities if we got rid of 50 million consumers on food stamps. How much consumption would decline if those people would have to pay that out of their own pocket. Their pets are probably eating better than most people are that are not on food stamps. | |
