That appears to be the case and is spilling over into our area farm values as well. Was offered some rocky, hilly, recently converted from pasture stuff north of town this week that is on a good year 120 bu corn ground for 10k an ac..... Silly part is he will likely get it. I will watch from the cheap seats and protect working capital.
Yep I watched a BTO buy 250 acres around the corner from me. Believe they paid $15k per acre and it's very very light sand that was used to grow trees for decades. First year their crop was a disaster then they threw a lot of money at fertilizer and manure to get what looked like a break even crop. Very interested to see how they do this year. Also curious how long they'll eat losses before trying to get rid of it |
