Missouri | Yes, if you have clutches on an ISO Kinze module, or a greenstar rate controller, it becomes necessary to do this. Ag Leader uses the common wire in the harness as positive. Every other application I've ever seen uses the common wire as the ground wire. Since March of 2011, the clutches have been polarity sensitive, therefore the reason for existence of the polarity changing adapter.
When setting these up for one's self, one could instead repin the harness with a $10 tool, and avoid the expense and extra cable bulk of these adapters. I don't do it in general as I worry it could lead to a misdiagnosis of a clutching issue down the road if a technician who expects them to be there sees that they aren't, without realizing the polarity was already corrected in the cable. | |
