| ok so There's a few things we need to set straight first on the IPad to better understand everyone's results
1 the GPS inside the iPad is adjustable, No you cant adjust it, but a app can. typically by the app developer. this came out around the time of iPhone 5s or 6...... soooooo 2 -3 years ago. roughly.
2. the GPS is more AGPS, which means assisted, as in by cell towers, if you're in a area of low service, its possible you could get faulty/ worse results than normal.
3. GPS is no different than any other technology.... if you are using a IPad 2 or iPad air 1, the GPS accuracy isn't going to be as good as the new ipad or ipad pro.... the newer it is, the smaller /better its getting. a new ipad is supposed to accurate to 1 meter 24/7. so a simple hardware upgrade might be in order. however if you don't want to do that......
4. bad elf is a plugin that's supposed to get accuracy to around 1-2 meters.... for 80-150 bucks.
5 there is going to an app this fall that allows users to see all equipment in a field in real time including combine and grain cart weights. and allows for notes and reminders such as rocks. however there a yearly fee and is kinda overkill for a rock locator.... but maybe something to look at.
hope this helps. | |
