The best way is to transfer what you want to computer for edit later, then format the card in the camera from the app.
Just deleting the files leave a lot of hidden indexing and such and eventualy ithere's increased risk of card packing in halfway through something important. 
I always remove the card and get what I want via card reader, then format the card in camera at next start up.
