Wondering if the rims/wheel for a 16" 8 bolt pattern can be used interchangeably? Is it possible to carry a common spare for the pickup truck and trailer and the spare fit either? I tried mounting a trailer spare on my 2000 F-250 to move on the farm and it didn't quite line up with the studs, so I had to drop the spare on the pickup. Is this typical? Thanks,

upstate New York | Trailer wheels are 8x6.5" .... same pattern as pre 99 Ford and older, dodge and Chevy all use it aswell, 99 and newer Ford has a 8x 165mm bolt pattern unfortunately

Thanks, that helps with knowing I should carry spares for trailers.

McLeod County MN | 165mm is 6.496 inches, sure they won't work?

Southern Alberta Canada | You're also dealing with hub pilot (Ford) vs stud pilot, check the hole and nuts and you'll see what I mean.

Based on his comments I looked. Ford appears to be 170 vs the 165 (or 6.5").

Eastern Half of Kansas | Super duty is 8x170. Like said super duty isn't same as pre 98. Edited by Big Square 3/25/2017 20:10

NW KS/ SC ID | I drive GM, they stuck with 8 on 6.5 till 2010, for 2011 they went metric. Ford was the first 8 lugger to go metric with the Super Duty in 99. I am no Ford guy, so you will have to confirm with one, but didnt Ford go to a bigger metric pattern at some point recently? I am not sure, but I think Dodge either switched for 2011 like GM did since they both use AAM axles, or they might have held out till 2013 or so. And then to make things more fun, you have deep offset rims on the pickup, but not the trailer. On duallys, you have to keep an eye out on GM, as they are hub piloted and have a special rim with a tight center hole. I think the GM rim will work on most trailer hubs, but no trailers run GM wheels, so it wont be centered. Sometimes its best to run a spare for both the truck and the trailer unfortunately. Ec Indiana | Ford duallys switched to 8x200 in 08 I think, possibly sooner. The single wheel trucks were still 8x170 on 2016s but I don't know about the new body style.

Southern Alberta Canada | Think it depends on the model F350 to F450 and F550 are different for sure right from '99 I'm sure.
