| I'm taking over a inlaws farm that's been in pasture since the 70s. There are about150 acres of good bottom ground and has good mixed grasses with clovers ect. It would be certifiable immediately if I decide to break some out of grass. I've got a 20 acre piece of Crp and another 20 of pasture that I thought I may start with. My question is how would you farm it the first year. ?
I had one fella tell me to plow in May, immediately plant beans and walk away. Maybe cultivate once but said I shouldnt need too. He's been organic since mid 90s and I feel he's pretty reputable.he also said to not put any turkey litter on or at max 1000 lb per acre.
The other option would be to put 2 or 3 ton of litter on plowing it in and planting corn. So what would you organic guys do? Located in central Missouri thanks in advance. | |
