We have a 07 Suburban with 190,000+ miles on it. Motor has been trouble free. It had 78,000 miles on it when I bought it. Shortly after we got it we had someone reprogram the computer so it would run on 8 cylinders all the time and never go to the V4 mode. My understanding too is that the cylinder deactivation feature on these vehicles can cause engine trouble.
What year suburban to watch out for?
