South East South Dakota/winters Tucson, AZ | I added recommended howes anti gel to tractor. But it still gelled up? It started today, yeah!!!! Is it harmful for motor to use more than the recommended amount. Hoping I don't see -22 and windchill of -38 this winter again. Or retirement may come a whole lot sooner.

NC ND | What tractor? On a 30_40 series deere,i have covered tbe fuel filter and fuel bulb with cloth or foam to keep the windchill of the fan off and made a huge difference in gelling. Have never had an issue on older tractors with too much antigell. Newer injectors i might worry about

southern MN | It was a tough year for that this year, I have older tractors. It was 35 degrees and humid for so long this fall, then all of a sudden dropped to that minus 20 stuff in a day. Not sure we got the anti gel stuff in in time to mix up, and then not sure if we were still on summer #2 or winter #2 here in Minnesota. Both my winter tractors gelled up when it was around zero. They did the 5 minute run, then starved for fuel. I got the. Back in the shed with hot water on the filters, and added more antigell before moving them. They work nice today in the 35 degree temps. :) Paul

central ILL | We have found nothing beats cen pe co for anti gel fuel conditioner. I have tried different ones. I don't even blend fuel anymore. Will keep fuel flowing to -40 below.

ohio | I use powers source anti jell and put cardboard on the side of the engine to keep the filters warm.

We used howes without issue, however once you're gelled up you need diesel 911. Can't over treat with howes. Edited by FarmerBrawn 12/21/2016 14:32

Lincoln County. NC | It's important to know whether you have gelling problems or icing problems.

NEIA | I used recommended treatment of Howes last week and gelled a 05 Duramax AND a Cummins M11. Won't use it again!

NW Iowa | I use Howes all the time with no problems. I had been using #2 for the last 10 years completely. Before this cold I put #1 in with Howes as I guess I chickened out. Can not overdue the use. On a JD 30, 40,50,55, & 60 series I take out the filter in the sediment bulb and throw away. That is the problem. Do the same on Case 70, 90, and 94 series.

I've used Howe's for years without problem. Always use the high rate and do run some #1 blended in with the #2. I've always heard you can't use too much Howe's but you can hurt the pump if you use too much Power Service.

Ontario | I put quite a bit in and have never had any issues. I believe the stuff I use recommendeds 1 can per 500L but says to double it for extreme cold.

Mather, Manitoba | We've ran summer fuel all winter in previous years in the semi and duramax. Add a little more anti gel that they recommend and change fuel filters once maybe twice if it's colder than normal.

WC IL | Ford mechanic told me a guy put 1 1/2 GALLONS of Power Service 911 in his 6.7 last week. Thought if a little was good a lot would be better. One of those types that probably shouldn't own a diesel truck. Wasn't sure how much of the fuel system would have to be replaced, thought it would take around $8,000 to fix.

that's why they still make straight #1 fuel. Still the best stuff to use.

central ILL | Straight #1 kills your power. With the Cenpeco antigel you can stay running #2. It is extremely safe to use. Have heard several people have trouble with power service and howes.

Lawton MI | Have used Power Service for many years with good results and 911 is a lifesaver.

Lantry, SD | I put more than the recommended amount of Howes in my Case 2294, My L190 skidsteer, and my 06 Duramax. The skidsteer and duramax gelled up, the Case tractor didn't. I'd rather use #1 and not have to worry about it.
