Subject: Radish and nitrogen loss

West Michigan
Have been reading and the n that the radish takes up in plant. When it dies and breaks down the N goes in the air and not in the ground?? Thought is that the plant exposure to the open will be lost to the air and not go into the soil. It there any truth to this? I really like the radish and what it does for soil.
