Subject: Anyone have regrets or advice for switching out to a fixed drive feederhouse on JD rotor

Western Iowa

Had enough of the variable speed feederhouse on my 9750 after blowing another belt today. Ordered the fixed drive conversion for around $1200 (I hope the dealer has the kit right). Seems like these variable drives struggle a little even with an 8 row corn head, let alone the 12 rows.

Any down side to this? I will switch the drive sprockets under the oil bath covers to get my corn head speed back up.

Other than that it is all good? Looks to me to be more durable and a lot less heat......
