Central Pennsylvania | We have had trouble with slugs for several years. I grow wheat and then plant covercrop and follow the next spring with corn. This year the slugs are eating the cover crop as it is comming out of the ground. I only have a slight problem with slugs in the soybeans that follow the corn and have had no trouble with slugs that I plant into the soybean stubble. Over the last 6 years because of the use of cover crops the organic matter of my soil has increased from about 2.5 % to 3.5% . I do not harvest any of the residue for the soybeans, corn or wheat. any ideas why I would be getting slugs in the wheat residue ? | |
