Took a quick tour of corn planted into cereal rye that was green and pollinating. Have watched closely all summer. Never was not green from the get go. Looks really good at this point, very hot and some fields very dry. Some of what I looked at tonight has still a very thick mat of rye and the corn looks pretty good. Was planted last days of May. Just starting to fill ear. May get lucky as weather people talking 1-3" of rain this weekend and maybe more. Know a lot of people don't like cereal rye ahead of corn, but at this point, mine looks very good. Combine will tell the tale. Just trying to decide what cover to plant for corn next year. How is yours looking?
