Subject: starting out with cover crops

South-central ohio
So I wanna try a cover crop on a small percentage of my ground. I am debating between using annual ryrgrass or cereal rye. Which one would be best to start out with? And when should I plant? Planning on killing it before I plant corn into it next year. Any suggestions/advice is appreciated.
