Subject: John Deere XP gauge wheel bearings loose in plastic rim

We have a 2012 1790 planter that the bearings are tight but a lot of the gauge wheels have some slop in them. The bearing is loose on the plastic gauge wheel half. Ive searched some old threads but Im curious what the best method for repair is. Im not sure if replacing the plastic rim will take out all the slop or not. The plastic half from Deere is $30. Shoup is $20. A shim between the bearing and the plastic wheel might work. Has anyone tried this or found an off the shelf shim for some other application that will work. I saw mention of using duct tape inside and also JB weld or epoxy. I think some of those fixes were for wheels with both halves being steel. I have one plastic, one steel half. Im curious what is the best long term fix and also the best quick and easy fix. Thanks
