Subject: Spreadsheet available

Rawlins County Kansas
This is an interesting topic and your argument is one I hear often from custom applicators as they have become accustomed to heating up or watering down product to meet FSA acres (which they bill on). Often FSA acres don't exactly match what is in the field yet most custom applications are done assuming FSA acres are truth. This is neither right or wrong but simply how things have been done. In today's world with high input costs, we just can't afford to have too much slop around our product rates or placements. Our neighbors will eat us alive (from a business sense).

I know of no one that can do an operation on any field with zero lost efficiency. That is impossible even with every piece of technology currently out there, however we are getting closer and closer to completely minimizing field inefficiency. Now that doesn't mean every piece of technology pays for itself for every producer or even on every field. That is for the producer to figure out and there is a nice spreadsheet at http://www.agmanager.info/farmmgt/machinery/default.asp that helps hammer out the money side of auto-steer and section control technologies.

Adios,

Diet
