If your field is actually 100 acres, and your rate is actually 1pt per acre, and you finish the field just as you finish the last bit of the last pint, then you are either not overlapping much at all (excellent manual steering, I would say), or you are overapplying in some areas and skipping in others. In he latter case, the major benefit of guidance would be more even application. In the first case, guidance would relieve you of the fatigue you feel after paying so much attention to driving perfectly. And can allow you to drive faster, covering more acres in less time, etc, while still allowing for the kind of accuracy you're used to.

To ensure that all areas of the field are covered, there is generally a certain percentage of planned overlap with manual steering. Assisted or automated guidance decreases (I won't say eliminates) the need for this overlap.
