bbeck - 11/10/2015 20:04   I would not use anhydrous as a nitrogen sources because you have to bury it deep to make it effective and not lose it. Anhydrous will not help with the nitrogen or carbon penalty created at the surface of a cover cropped rye field. .

bbeck....I'm not quite sure what you are describing? Are you saying that because the N from NH3 is deep (6-8") that the corn will be affected??  Please expand on that if you would.

full disclosure: I use NH3 side-dress to apply 2/3 of my N and have not seen any ill effects
