Subject: RE: question for JD corn silage harvesters

Check your bottom feed roll's bearings . If the bearings are out (or lose) it will let the roll drop down a little . Doesnt seem like much but will cause the problem you are having . Went through the same problems with 5200 jd and later with 5830 . Also check smooth roll and scraper . Other advise on springs is right on too . The jd 3-row some times doesnt feed the best if all chains and guides are not in good shape . One time had build up in front of shear bar . Cant believe crop wouldnt push it in . Removed shear bar to clean , was that tight . Was haylage not corn . My 5200 was updated to a duradrum cutter head and also had the "rooster tail " type feed roll . I always felt it fed better then older straight type . Been years since working on these , thats what I remember quick like

artie
ps is your duradrum a JD replacement or after market ?
