Subject: RE: Case tractors with the white paint (1370 D)

Wyoming

There are a couple of larger hay operations around here that like these tractors for pulling small balers and rakes around. They buy them dirt-cheap and figure on working on the tranny themselves to put in the updates and repairs. Pulling a baler/rake/sprayer isn't tough work for these tractors and if you do your own tranny work as these guys have done, you have a really inexpensive tractor for light work where the engine will last almost forever.

If you're not comfortable tearing into the tranny yourself, you might want to steer clear. When I was looking for cheep older tractors, I didn't want to need to tear into trannies, so the more experienced guys around here advised me to stay away from the 70 series white paint Case machines. They met my criteria for having good parts availability and plenty of second-hand parts available from teardown yards.
