Subject: Hybrid Pearl Millet

I no-tilled hybrid pearl millet into ru sprayed triticale grazed stubble the 1st of june, it has grown probably 6", just doesn't seem to turn on.  Same day I planted sudan and both got 50 units N via 28 a couple weeks after planting, the sudan is 5-6' tall and emerald green, the millet is ~6" tall and very spotty in its response to the N, some very yellow areas and some nice dark green, but not much growth.  First year for millet, so is it really that much slower than sudan?  Both treated the same for fertility and planting and had good rain to take the 28 down to the roots.  Only reason I planted millet was to alleviate some of the possible prussic acid worries with sudan, but not sure it it is worth it if this is all it grows.  Never had prussic problems before, but is always in the back of my mind.  Anyone have any experience with millet?
