Subject: Re: Insight rate variabily

Cedar Rapids, Iowa
I have a 252 that is using the Omnistar HP signal, and it also reports the speed in a "jittery" way. I think they just calculate speed as the distance between the last point and current point divided by time. There just isn't any smoothing done inside the 252. In my case, I just average the last 10 reported speed numbers, which gives me a speed that doesn't jump around.

I recall reading somewhere that the Insight has an option to smooth the speed and other numbers. Maybe somebody with some experience there can confirm that.
