A trick my electronics repair guy told me--
Put 'extra' fuse in line -- (may not be the easiest, I know) -- at different points along the path -- the one that blows is the closest to the problem.
(we were troubleshooting a solenoid valve/pump issue) -- but the concept would work anywhere --
