Subject: 7000 Allis Chalmers hydraulic pump

Stoddard Co. SEMO
I have a plug that leaking on the side of the aluminum housing. The plug has an o-ring under it, with a steel snap ring holding it inside the housing. The plug holds tension on a spring and a piston. I have replaced the snap ring and o- ring but it continues to leak. I believe the aluminum housing is worn and can no longer be sealed properly. I took the pump off and took it apart. The aluminum end cap seperates from the rest of the pump so, I was thinking that a machine shop might bore, tap, and use a threaded plug.

Here are some pics of the pump and in the second pic the round plug is where my leak is.
