Subject: RE: v-set and case ih planter

Did the Baker kit on a 1250 24 row this year. The v-sets turn much easier than the case units. That along with the alignment issues we had with the unit mounted air clutches solved the slipping clutch problems. Pluses are don't need to play with settings or air pressures to get consistent drop with all the seed sizes and weights, turn easier, less disc wear. Minus are with chain drive and air clutches there isn't enough room to change discs without removing unit, small kernels and broken tips can plug vent holes starving rows occasionally (Think I may have that fixed. flipped the tubes over!). Next try will be cutting grooves to let the seeds not suck tight to the vent holes.
