n.c.iowa | garvo - 5/17/2015 08:46 we ran a 1486 at 250 a long time-set it up with a intercooler and bigger injectors-it was pulled hard day in day out a long time-my brother was a ih dealer-he set it there and said we would be ok- we only lost the ta and then put the electric one in-this was in 1977-1978 time frame- usually plowing we could see fire out of the short stack at nite-hated the tractor as the 1466 rode so much better and had a bigger cab The 8400 john deeres have never been apart-one has 9000+ hours and one is at 8400hrs-both pull 75hp more then factory-the 1486 was pulling a 100 over factory-been good tractor at 125hp but things were different in the 80's-was some shops workin on tractors for $20 hour shop rate-and parts could vary 40% between dealers we had a couple 66's also garvo, white cab 1466 and red cab 1566. I also thought the 66's rode better, but the cabs sucked. I actually was thinking that the local shops were at $22-25/ hour. going through my stuff right now to find receipts for rear end jobs from the 80's. |
