South Central IN | We will be building a shed of some kind to house our electrical panels, VFDs, dryer controller etc. for our new grain system. What should I make room for other than a counter, some storage cabinets and maybe a fridge? Thinking 10x12 or 10x16 with frame construction on a block foundation. I've seen a few here on Ag talk, but would enjoy seeing more examples if anybody has done one recently. Thanks! Don

SC Ont. | We enclosed the bottom of a 24' hopper for an electrical room and put in some shelves. Edited by RF1 5/11/2015 13:48 (Photo281.jpg) (Photo587 - Copy.jpg) Attachments ---------------- ![]() ![]()

I know of a guy that used a 20' shipping container got a one tripper so it was basically new and as long as you seal up the holes you have to cut to get wires in and out they are weather/rodent proof

Beloit, Ks | A buddy of mine has a really nice dryer shack. it houses the electrical panel. It is not overly big, but has some nice amenities. he put an old couch and a fast food style booth so guys can have a cup of coffee while dumping trucks. a microwave and a TV for times when he has to babysit the dryer. he put a couple windows in so one can watch the pit as the truck dumps.

SeMN | We did an 8x16 , steel outside, put 3/4 in plywood on the inside walls so boxes could be fastened anywhere you need them . Put lots of extra conduit blanks through the concrete for future expansion. Poured a floating concrete pad. Good luck.

Spring Lake, MI | Given the NAT concern over Arc-blast, you may consider not keeping the dryer electric panel where you will undoubtedly spend a lot of time. I can see a dryer control panel, or the typical 200A load center... But I wouldn't want the 3-pgase 600A disconnect anywhere but outside on a seperate post. Our setup has the disconnect away from the common areas, the control oanel on the dryer (for safety at startip, etc,) a 100A load center inside a 12'x16' shed. Counter on one side for moisture tester, etc. bench on opposite side. Goid luck

Morris, IL | Our is 10'x16'x8' tall, i would not want it much smaller. We stick built it just like a house, 2x4 construction with 3/4" OSB inside and out, i think that is a 6 pitch but i can't remember for sure, i think morton uses 4 but we wanted little steeper for looks. We fastened Morton steel on the outside to match tool shed 100' away. 3 windows and a high quality steel door. Insulated it again just like a house with fiberglass batts and vapor barrier. The electrical tray is a very nice way to go, allows you to really expand and stuff very easily. The bench is just a 2x4 frame, 4x8" ripped at 30" and the shelf under it is the remaining 18". We were thinking we would want heat/AC but really haven't needed anything yet, it's sealed so tight it stays cool in summer and warmer in the winter, heat would certainly be nice if we have a late fall but we'll probably just get some sort of nice space heater. Questions just ask, we spent lot of time on this building and our very proud of it, did everything from the concrete to wiring myself. Ran water and compressed air from the show which is very nice to have. I wouldn't mind having refrigerator and i know grandfather would like microwave for his coffee but we can alway add them as long we we have plenty of room, have both in shop 100' away. East central Indiana | We've used a 20 ft container and turned it into an office/scale house at the bins. Insulated and heat and small ac unit. Works well. Brother really likes having a couch to sleep on while watching the dryer.

Iowa - Floyd County | Ours is 10'x16', I think, it's been a few years since we built it. It has two rooms, an electrical room and a blower room. The one on the right with the roll-up door is the blower room, its big enough for us to put pur airlock and all of the auger hoppers in there during the off season. The electrical room is on the left side with the walk in door around the corner. We have a couple cabinets and a desk in there, nothing fancy, but it's a good place to get out of the wind and take a moisture sample when dumping. I don't think I would want it any bigger as it would just collect "stuff" if there was spare room. Edited by JChamb 5/12/2015 05:51 (IMG-20120930-00072.jpg) Attachments ---------------- ![]()

How do you keep water out with the slab sticking out on all 4 sides and the building sitting on the slab?
