We got a 2100 display thinking that if we had the touchscreen 2600 it would get scratched in use. Also the gen on the GS2 says there is a USB port on the back of the monitor to plug in a keyboard. Our local JD dealer was a bit vague when asked about this. In practice the keypad works OK for most of what you need to do in the field. At the end of the day there is information that needs to be entered via a keyboard, for this you have to scroll the mouse pointer around to each letter on the virtual keyboard on screen. Time consuming for anyone who is not a games addict!
I eventually managed to speak to the expert at JD UK (they don't like talking to end users) who confirmed yes, you can plug in a keyboard, but only the direction keys on it will work.
I am rapidly becoming disenchanted with JD! |
