Getting ready to change the motor oil in a Kubota m126x and read in the manual that it calls for a ci-4 oil and not to use cj-4. Of course my bulk oil is jd plus 50 cj-4. I was wondering what the difference was and whether or not it would be a big deal to use it anyway.
The book claims it won't work with motors with external egr and is only for dpf engines. Gets me thinking I may want to switch oils in the future as the rest of the fleet are all non emissions motors and the cj4 may not be the best choice.
Your thoughts?
Some early CJ-4 oils were not backwards compatible. most are now. Check with your supplier to see if a particular CJ-4 is or not.
Edit: New Holland (and CaseIH) CI-4 oil is recommended for CNH engines with either EGR or DEF systems. As an example.
