NWC Ohio
Clutch use is for starting/stoping/ backing. Left foot brakes, until almost stopped and have to push clutch in. right foot throttle to upshift and downshift. Tranny stays in a gear till stopped, clutch in just enough to let engine spin free, but tranny still in gear so the brakes actualy stop clutch disc from turning instead of floaring the clutch pedal with tranny out of gear to stop clutch disc from spinning so you can put tranny back into gear to start again. Don't clutch to shift at all, sure as heck don't double clutch. Ultra shift trannys don't ever clutch to shift. They can't because centrifugal force ( engine rpms) engage the clutch Anything over 900 rpm and clutch is locked in. To each their own, but proven fact ( from localized experience) the more the driver(s) use the clutch to shift the more $$ and repairs will be spent on that truck. From clutches, clutch brakes, and driveline parts, and the more metal flakes floating in tranny from grinding gears. Learn how you like and just be good and consistent with it.
