I am sure the tranny manufactures do disagree as the wrong person shifting clutchless will probably damage some gears in a tranny. I am not saying either way is the absolute right way but coming from a guy who has logged probably a few million miles I will tend to trust him. Simple fact is if you engage and disengage a clutch there is at least a minimal amount of slippage which means a certain amount of wear each time, there is only so much facing to wear. Doing so 1/10 as many times certainly has to save on the wear.... how does it equate in the real world? Who really knows.
