Its not lost. Much of it has been changed from farmland into lawns which are over-fertilized, over-watered, and sprayed with herbicides to kill the crab grass, etc. So its sort of like farmland, but doesn't produce anything. I wonder how many gallons of gas and lbs of fertilizer are used on lawns in the US ??? It sure is amazing to see people running their sprinklers when our fields are still too wet to drive across.
