Subject: Insight Updates

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
Updates for the Ag Leader Insight are available at this time. Many components have updated firmware.

For those of you who have an Insight system and use it in the combine for grain harvest, there are several updates that you should install.

There is the 3.5 update for the Insight display as well as updates for the three combine modules (Flow, Moisture and Speed) since last year.

These updates are free and are available online or from your dealer. The update package (zipped) is quite large and may be a major download for those of us with dialup connections.

The updates add several features and enhancements.

For those of you unfamiliar with the procedure, the update involves putting the unzipped files on a CF memory card and inserting it into the Insight. Pushing the Update button on the HOME screen will start the process. A list of the update files that are available will then appear.

Updating the display itself will result in the temporary loss of the "graphics" type display while the console rebuilds itself. The screen will go black and common text will appear showing the progress. After several steps, the console will appear to go "dead". This is normal and the unit should restart after pushing the ON/OFF button on the back. Then Phase II of the update process should begin. After this is completed, the console can be restarted again and the new operating system should take over. This will be indicated by the new version number (3.5) appearing on the startup screen.

Updating the individual modules or nodes is straightforward. Pick the file for the module you wish to update and proceed. You will be asked if you wish to upgrade from the old version number to the new one just picked. Generally you would indicate that you wish to proceed.

Then just sit back and watch the bar graph display indicating the progress. Since the module is being updated and not the console itself, the graphic display will remain. This is more reassuring than the previous step of updating the console,

The firmware versions of the various components is always available by pushing the System button on the Run screen. From this screen you can check the firmware versions of the various components of any Insight system.

Note: there are two Flow update files. Flow I is for most combines, Flow II is for certain NH combines.
