Something you might want to consider if you have the time. Do an oil sample on the 9770 and send it in through Cenex for$399 - $200 rebate = $199 you can get the remaining balance of the 8 year engine warranty. They require oil sample at each oil change ($15) and you must use their lubricants. I personally have never had a claim but a couple locally have gotten motors replaced when the water pumps failed (9860 JD, 9520 JD) These isssues have nothing to do with the oil and is a flaw of JD and its good to know that you have extended warranty if this occurs. This gave me piece of mind when I bought my used 9770. I put the warranty on a new JD tractor as well this year as it cost $99 net and covers motor and hydraulics and I believe fuel system for 10 years/10,000 hours and is fully transferable to the next person.
