ND
I would be willing to pay $75 an hour for labor if they got the job done right and within a reasonable amount of time. What I don't like is that it seems like every time we take something in, the mechanics always find a way to run up the billed hours and leave us with a huge bill. Recently we had to have an engine swapped on one of our 4-wheel drive tractors. They estimated it would be between $4500 and $6000. That seemed reasonable enough to get the tractor up and running quickly so we could get it back in the field. Well....... just about a month and a half later they finally got it finished. When we got the bill they had billed us for 99 hours of labor (that's two and a half weeks of work for one guy). Multiply that to $70 an hour, along with $1200 in parts (the engine was already paid for) and we had over an $8000 bill to pay. I know dad asked for an itemized bill to try to see where all the labor added up, but I don't believe he's gotten any explanation yet.
