Subject: RE: Calibrating Auto Pilot

I reseantly bought a Trimble AutoPilot and controlling with a Ag Leader Insight. I am calibrating with AP toolbox.
I have a 2002 MX270 with a 3 point (quick Attach) Cyclo 900 12 row. OmniStar HP - 252

1. Should I calibrate with the planter on the tractor (its a 3 point planter)?
2. If yes should I calibrate with the planter in the air or in the ground?
3. Should I calibrate with no implements attached?
4. Does it matter if I calibrate in feild conditions, or will a a concrete packing lot work fine? (in Iowa it is WET!!)

What is the most accurate way to calibrate for the Autopilot

My $0.02....
Do not calibrate your machine on concrete nor with an implement attached. Both will artificially effect the dynamics of the machine, especially since you're looking for an HP-level of performance. Calibrate your Autopilot on soil with no implement attached. If you have will be using different tire combinations throughout the year, you may want to have a different vehicle profile (and respective calibration) for each set of tires. My dealer is going to come out and recalibrate the RoGator 1286Cs that I have Autopilots on once post-emergence time arrives and the machines are switched over to the narrow tires.
