Subject: Re: Slow valves with DirectCommand and NH3

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
Part of the confusion here deals with the fact that some of you are using EZ-Boom and others are using Ag Leader's Insight with the Liquid Direct Command module. The two systems are similar in many respects but they differ on NH3.

In the Insight Direct Command system you enter in the pulses for 1 Gallon whether the product is fertilizer, spray or NH3.

A Raven flowmeter will commonly have two numbers on its label. The larger number (around 720 or so) will be the number of pulses produced when 10 gallons of liquid have passed through the flowmeter. Divide this number by 10 when using a Raven flowmeter for spray and NH3. When NH3 is picked as the product from the product list (it's already in there) the necessary conversions to pulses per Gallon of NH3 and pulses per Gallon of "N" are built in. Do not use the smaller number on the label.

With an EZ-Boom system, the expectation is that you will be working in Gallons. The EZ-Boom system does not convert from gallons to pounds like the Insight does. The EZ-Boom has no product list so it has no knowledge of what you are applying. Therefore enter in the number shown on the Raven flowmeter for Pounds of "N" (do not divide by 10). Just enter in that number and do all your thinking in pounds of "N".

Then the values shown on the EZ-Guide will be in pounds of actual "N" which is what most people are after. When tanks are weighed as a cross check, remember to multiply the scale weight by .82 to get the actual pounds of "N" that have been removed. This should agree with the value shown on the EZ-Guide.
