Looking for a 80-100 hp FWD loader tractor without a cab. Looking at CIH & McCormick tractors, not many sold in our area.

What is the legacy of the CX105? I assume it is the old smaller CIH utility from England but it has a flat deck.

Looked at a C70 McCormick at local dealer, looked just like a 695 tractor. The CX105 looks a lot different in the dealer pics (out of area).

CX105 is a newer CX100, which was built in both CaseIH and McCormick trim.

The CX was the last of the Doncaster IH's, shared engine with C, but was platform version and could have factory cab. Descendant of the 74 series IH.

The C-series (Not CX) was the back half of a 85/95/4200 series with a perkins engine. The CX was the same perkins engine with the "new" back end platform and syncro shuttle based trans.

105 could have the "X-tra Shift" trans which was a 24 speed with power shuttle and 3-speeed power shift, where CX100 only had 16 speed with synchro shuttle and 2 speed power shift.

It looks similar to the platform of the old CIH MX100 tractors that McCormick made after CNH merger.

So what is your opinion of the engine & transmission?

Does it start well in cold weather?

Will be used for general loader work, mowing, etc.

No livestock, unless corn stays under $3 LOL

I hadn't heard anything bad about the perkins powered C/CX, there were a lot sold around here when new, but only a few McCormick, which likely carried over from the popularity of the CaseIH.

Tractor would work well for what you want.

Almost every diesel needs plugged in "here" in the winter, so if it's got a block heater you are good.

The XtraShift, from what I understand, was a sibling to the 16-speed found in the Maxxum and MX-C / MTX/MC tractors.

If you want the Perkins engine and Maxxum powershift/cab, that's the MX-C or MC line.

I own a Case IH CX90 2000 model 2wd. I bought it with 10700 hours on it and have put 300 more on it this season. Been perfect so far. Comfortable cab with good visibility. I do like the machine. It has a dry clutch, so not the most durable for extensive loader use. For tillage use I will generally run out of weight before power. I am running 14.9R34 duals on mine.

My largest warning about a McCormick tractor is the company itself. I purchased a brand new compact tractor from them 3 years ago. Had some warranty issues that the local dealer could not resolve. Took 10 plus phone calls and 3 months to get someone at McCormick to call me back, 5 months and lots of my effort to get a solution from them. Lucked out and got ahold of one tech who took a personal interest in figuring it out. If I had not found this individual, I do not know if my issue would have been resolved. Parts support was poor, local dealer complained of this greatly. I will not do any business with McCormick again.

We got 5 C100's in 2000 and traded 3 for JX 95's in 2007 Well the 3 JX 95's we got are not on the farm anymore and the 2 C 100's that stayed still are. They were worked hard in there early life as they pulled 4 bottom ploughs most of the time. They also did all our planting and row crop work. Those 2 tractors have close on 20 000 hours each on now and we have had to replace a turbo on one and did some repairs to the clutch's on both of them. (I think that was due to all the time spent pulling hard. Pulled ploughs for about 5000 hours). In the end out of all the tractors we have had those C 100's are probably the best tractors our farm has had. Wish we could find some low hours ones.
